I think Turducken is pretty extreme.
I've never had it; I don't even really like turkey. Apparently, back in the early 16th century, a French culinarian concocted an even crazier bird medley: 16 birds stuffed in a turkey! "A bustard was stuffed with a turkey, stuffed with a goose, stuffed with a pheasant, stuffed with a chicken, stuffed with a duck, stuffed with a guinea fowl, stuffed with a teal, stuffed with a woodcock, stuffed with a partridge, stuffed with a plover, stuffed with a lapwing, stuffed with a quail, stuffed with a thrush, stuffed with a lark, stuffed with an Ortolan Bunting, stuffed with (finally) a garden warbler." (Sonoma Valley Sun)
Sounds a bit too gamey for me.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Vegas, baby.

Jim and I headed to Vegas on Saturday a.m. with our friends Mike and Steph. We stayed at the Monte Carlo. We got a fantastic deal on hotel + airfare so we took advantage and made plans. Henry stayed with my parents for a couple days and Jim's parents for a couple days. He was the perfect house guest!
Being pregnant in Vegas is kinda' difficult. No fun alcoholic beverages to drink and you're pretty much constantly surrounded by a cloud of cigarette smoke. So, there was that. Us girls hit the outlet malls the day we arrived and we all had a nice fancy steak dinner on Saturday night with friends who drove over from surrounding cities. Jim and I saw Norm MacDonald (of SNL Weekend Update fame) after dinner. His show was just o-kay. Sunday was football day. We didn't win any of our game wagering. That night we hit the Bellagio for a great cover band show and dinner at Caesar's Palace. Monday we headed downtown. Downtown Vegas is interesting. While the casinos are much closer together, the whole scene is pretty depressing. Monday night Jim and I had some tasty sushi and Asian fare. I gambled about $30 playing 50 and 100-hand video poker. I'm all about a slow drain...
The Monte Carlo was really nice. Great location too. I wish it would have been warmer to take advantage of the pool!

Happy Birthday, Corryn!
My niece Corryn, Thomas' daughter, is "2" today!Over the weekend they had a birthday party for her at their home featuring yummy thai food and a ladybug cake. It was a gorgeous day. Corryn and Henry made the most of it, managing to get sand in every pant pocket, sock crevice, and diaper. There was also a pinata to bat around..

We traveled to Evanston to celebrate Halloween with the Clarkes. We had a great time. While there, we were able to see Ericka and meet the cute Lucas Johnson, born earlier in October!
Henry was a train conductor and seemed to enjoy trick or treating. I do however think he preferred watching Rob hand out candy, peeking at the kids in costume that came to their door. I really wonder what was going through his little head!
Henry hasn't seemed to have forgotten the fact that he "gets something" when he says "trick or treat." He certainly says it in his own cute way that I can't resist giving him a treat! Now that Halloween is over, why should trick or treating be over? Instead of saying "please," Henry says "ticka teat"! Actually, he does say "ticka teat, peas." Want milk or water? Just say "trick or treat"!
Dream Park

My parents came for a visit on Saturday afternoon. It was a crisp autumn day; great for being outdoors, so we headed to the Sun Prairie Dream Park. It's so fun there! Henry especially liked watching the squirrels frolic in the tree area. We don't see many squirrels in our neck of the woods. Our neighborhood is fairly new, and doesn't allow for much squirrel-fun, as we don't have any real nice, big maples (or any large trees for that matter).
And now we're back to the gloomy, rainy weather...

The Pumpkin Train
We went to Little Amerricka today to take a ride on their Pumpkin Train! Henry is crazy for trains and this was actually his very first "choo-choo ride." Your ticket includes the 3-mile train ride, which features lots of roaming farm animals, and a pumpkin. Henry loved it. Great deal for the pumpkin too; we got some big ones.
Big Fat Ugly.
We have a Fat Sandwich Company here in Madison now. We haven't been, but I just had to post about this crazy-huge sandwich they have there. It's called the Big Fat Ugly and if you eat it within 15 minutes, the sandwich is on them (along with a t-shirt). This sandwich is as big as a football! I'm not sure how much the sandwich costs (okay, I looked it up, it's $25), but it hardly seems worth it given how utterly gross this sandwich sounds and looks:
It features four cheeseburgers, a double cheesesteak, a chicken cheesesteak, gyro meat, grilled chicken, bacon, sausage, mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, chicken nuggets, mac n’ cheese bites, fried mushrooms, jalapeƱo poppers, pizza bites, onion rings, hash browns, American cheese, mayo, ketchup and two rolls.
Eww.
